StartUp Britain, the national campaign for entrepreneurship in the UK, are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated and capable intern to project manage our StartUp Local initiative.

The Campaign

Back in March 2011, eight entrepreneurs launched a national private-sector-led campaign to encourage entrepreneurship, with the full support of David Cameron, the Chancellor and HM Government.

Since launch, we have travelled across the nation in a double-decker bus to provide support to those starting or growing a business; held marketing, tech and finance weeks, offering free advice to startups; recruited 70+ StartUp Local champions to promote entrepreneurship across the country; supported key government initiatives; created a number of special projects to meet startup needs; and, most importantly, had a lot of fun along the way!

We are truly passionate about promoting entrepreneurship and its benefits to our economy and we do this by highlighting the myriad of support that is available to those who wish to start or grow a business, galvanising support where we see a demand and by acting as a voice for small businesses to Government.

The Role

The campaign is fast-paced and will offer exposure to many different areas of the business, including supporting the campaign team across a variety of existing projects, but your primary focus will be on project managing StartUp Local:

Since our launch in March 2011 we have been inundated with offers and requests to reach out at a local level. StartUp Local is a new initiative that allows enthusiastic and experienced volunteers across the nation to register as a Local Champion and shine a spotlight on the events, resources and activities that benefit startups and growing businesses in their area. StartUp Local is one of the most dynamic and exciting networks developing on the UK enterprise scene and our champions are the eyes and ears of the campaign; they are vitally important to our continued success.

We are looking for a hard-working and inquisitive individual who is passionate about enterprise and capable of building solid relationships. You will be our champions' main point of contact in the national team and will be responsible for:
  • reviewing applications and recruiting new champions
  • maintaining the local database
  • updating our existing champions on national activities and opportunities
  • answering queries related to StartUp Local
  • measuring local impact and champion activity
  • creating partnerships and materials to benefit our network of champions

The internship will last for a minimum of 8 weeks.
