Striding Out is looking for a Marketing Assistant to promote Striding Out local area networks in two/three specific areas of the UK. The post will be based in London but it will entail visits to the specified locations on a monthly basis.

Striding Out is a grass roots network; It’s membership base of entrepreneurs inform the development of the organisation to ensure it is catered to their needs. As a Community Interest Company, we charge affordable rates to sustain and grow the services we provide to support our intended community.

In addition, Striding Out also run’s Branching Out to deliver support and coaching to clients aged 30plus, Figuring Out to deliver career coaching coaching, and Spinning Out to deliver performance coaching to professionals in the workplace.

Striding Out is a Flagship Network Model for the Enterprise Insight Campaign, funded by the DTi to inspire and support young entrepreneurs, and we are currently rolling out local networks across the UK.

High Profile Events: We run monthly events for entrepreneurs and a series of high profile activities with our partners to increase exposure, for example the Big Leap Competition, Enterprise Week, and Striding Out Live with partners including The British Library, UK Skills, Natwest/The Royal Bank of Scotland, Enterprise Insight, UnLtd, London Remade, Knowledge East and West Focus University Networks.

Wide Outreach with Entrepreneurs: Events, Articles and Monthly Newsletters are promoted to a wide audience in partnership with a large number of networking organisations and business support channels, giving us exposure to thousands of entrepreneurs on a regular basis.

Recognition in Enterprise Sector: The founder of Striding Out, Heather Wilkinson, is a recognised personality in the Enterprise Sector and Third sector, having won the Social Enterprise Mentor of the Year Award in 2006. Striding Out is recognised as a representative body for young entrepreneurs and social entrepreneurs in the UK and acts as a consultant on enterprise-related matters to national, regional and local government bodies.

As a Marketing Assistant you will work closely with a number of Business Coaches in your local patch, to support and connect young entrepreneurs.

The Responsibilities

Job Description –Marketing Assistant - Local Networks

The Marketing Assistant will be responsible for marketing a number of specified local networks, working alongside the local business coaches. Their role will include:-

• Actively Promote and Attract Interest from Entrepreneurs in the local area.
• Plan and Organise Bi-Monthly Events.
• Update Local Casestudies and Network Pages on the National Website
• Identify new Partners and Sponsors at a Local Network Level.
• Manage relationships with partner organisations.
• Work with the Local Coach to facilitate connections between members.
• To engage with local media and prepare press releases.

Market and Business Development

• Actively promote and talk to individuals interested in joining the Striding Out network.
• Carry out marketing and outreach activities. Assisting in the National HQ in delivery of road shows and presentations.
• To research local and regional partners and developing working links with organisations and bodies.
• Represent Striding Out at professional development events and conferences to promote our work and identify potential partners and funders.

Management

• Monitor Local Marketing Activities to produce monthly marketing reports and a Marketing Handbook to track progress and marketing success for each Local Network.
• Support the National HQ in quality assurance processes to monitor and evaluate the Striding Out Services.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of a Company Strategic Action plan on a bi-annual basis.

Candidate Profile

Experience/skills:
You must beable to demonstrate the following experience and skills.

1. You have undertaken an appropriate qualification in marketing and PR.
2. To have at least one years worth of professional business experience.
3. Proven experience of sales and marketing to generate a client base and run effective campaigns.
4. You must show evidence of networking skills and beable to demonstrate the ability to connect and facilitate networking amongst clients.
5. You must have demonstrable experience of organising events.
6. Good communication and writing skills for correspondence with media.
7. You have demonstrable experience of developing relationships and partnerships with other organisations.
8. You have excellent interpersonal skills and can communicate effectively with people at all levels, including entrepreneurs, professionals, sponsors, business support organisations, local government and the media
9. You have all the basic IT skills, especially MS Office, and know how to access and derive information from databases
10. You have a full driving licence and use of a vehicle

References

We require two written references from past employees, which we can follow up with. One written reference should be from a professional figurehead who can endorse your skills as a good communicator e.g. public sector, professional service provider etc.
