Sustainable Ventures are seeking 2-3 highly motivated professionals to support development of two of our portfolio ventures – “E-Car Club Ltd” and “The Sustainable Home Survey Company CIC”. The successful candidates will take responsibility for activities such as development planning, supply chain engagement, financial modelling, preparation of documentation and supporting Sustainable Ventures’ management in the run up to financial close and early development phase.
A brief overview of these businesses is detailed below:
E-Car – The Electric Vehicle Car Club
A competitively priced, wholly electric, pay-per-use car club addressing the present and future needs of the personal urban and suburban transport market through existing community networks. E-Car has already attracted substantial investor interest and financial close for the £500,000 seed funding round is scheduled for March 2012.
The Sustainable Home Survey Company (“SHS”)
SHS will be the UK’s leading domestic energy assessment company. With a scalable employee ownership structure, high calibre workforce and a holistic multi-survey approach to low carbon domestic interventions, SHS is distinctly positioned to serve Estate Agents, Energy Service Companies, Green Deal Providers, Renewable Heat Companies and Utilities across the country.
The internships will run for a period of 3-6 months and, though the positions are unpaid, the successful candidates will be eligible for a small monthly stipend.
Following successful completion of the internship period, there is the potential for full time associate or director level employment in either a) the portfolio company management team or b) the Sustainable Ventures’ development team.
Appreciation and understanding of the principles behind the transition to a more energy-efficient, less carbon intensive economy
Strong sector interest in one or more areas of Sustainable Ventures’ focus (e.g. Low Carbon Transport, Domestic Energy or Social Entrepreneurship )
Financial modelling experience (including the ability to develop complex models from scratch)
Experience of the equity fundraising process (including the production of fundraising materials) is preferable but not essential
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain productive relationships
Excellent oral and written presentation skills (fluency in English essential)
Attention to detail combined with an accurate, succinct and professional writing style
Ability to work independently, taking initiative and ‘ownership’ of assignments
2:1 (or equivalent) undergraduate degree
Post-graduate business education (such as an MBA) preferable
Minimum of 3 years professional experience in consulting, corporate venturing, entrepreneurial management, supply chain development or other relevant field
