Wiggle (www.wiggle.co.uk) is a successful and rapidly growing ecommerce site for cycle and triathlon goods, with significant volumes of international sales. The business is enjoying strong growth, recently beating ASOS and vente-privee to the eCommerce Expo awards, making the Retail Week awards 2011 (shortlisted against Amazon, Tesco and ASOS), the Sunday Times Fast Track 100 (second year in a row), the Retail Week etail power list. Our IT team is 27 strong but quadrupled in size in 2010 after the arrival of a new IT Director, and is set to continue growing strongly in 2011. As this expansion continues there will a number of opportunities to take leading roles in shaping the company’s IT. The company is headquartered in Portsmouth, but most of its IT team is based in London. The development team mainly use C# with Visual Studio 2010 and SQL Server (with MVC, ReSharper, nHibernate, Selenium, etc.), although there is some legacy VB.NET. Linux and MySQL are used for a handful of peripheral applications. Google’s “Connected Kingdom” report recently made clear that the UK leads the world in ecommerce, and Wiggle is one of the few companies leading ecommerce in the UK. Wiggle’s strong international growth and focus makes this a unique, challenging and rewarding opportunity. Role description Wiggle’s IT team are split into four groups: QA & testing, software engineering, project management and IT & Operations. Amongst other practises, we use Pair Programming, TDD, BDD, Refactoring, and Continuous Integration, and actively review and tune our Agile process.
