Business Development Internship
Minimum three days per week, three-month commitment (one month trial period).
Mid Feb to Mid May 2012. Zones 1 – 6 travel and per diems paid.
Matilda produces and promotes Australian design in the UK, focusing on the contract furniture market as well as retail opportunities.
With our products designed in Australia and made in Britain, we support local manufacturing and minimise our carbon footprint.
Launched at the London Design Festival 2011, Matilda has gone on to appear in other trade shows and pop up shops such as Dezeen’s Temporium and Home Interiors.

Matilda runs a year-round internship program, providing an opportunity for highly motivated individuals to develop skills and experience within a small, dynamic team.
This intern reports directly to the Sales Manager as well as provides support to the Marketing Manager.Ideal candidates will have studied and / or gained some experience in sales and marketing, communications, alongside some knowledge of the design / cultural community in London.
Responsibilities include
• Research into potential clients / customers
• Database coordination and maintenance
• Input into, and execution of, the sales strategy in conjunction with the Sales Manager; including telephone and email communication with new clients as well as attendance at presentations
• Coordination of all sales materials
• Responsibility for online retailer relationships
• Market analysis and competitor research
• Research into industry events and association
• Coordination and distribution of marketing materials
• Attending industry events and activities
• General office support as carried out by everyone including answering the phone and errands etc.
Required skills and abilities
• Sales and / or marketing study / qualifications and / or experience
• Ability to work with a range of people, to deadlines and under pressure
• An outstanding communicator – both written and verbal
• Significant organisational and time management skills, while maintaining flexibility
• An interest in the design sector
Desired skills
• Some knowledge of content management systems, and proficient in using programs such as InDesign and Photoshop
• Some knowledge of the design industry
