Enternships provides ambitious and dynamic students and graduates with an opportunity to learn about business and enterprise through work placements in entrepreneurial and innovative environments, from start-ups to global venture funds around the world.
The Team
Nazem Abd-Allah, Middle East Advisor
Nazem graduated from the London School of Economics with a BSc (Hons) in International Relations. Born in Spain, he has lived in Egypt and France, and speaks five languages. His experience with startups began at university, where he was involved with the launch of an online book-trading platform. After a brief stint working in the defence sector, he joined Enternships to look after Business Development in the UK, with a focus on our employer relations.
Nazem is also the primary contact for companies and enterns in the Middle East.
Rodrigo Garcia Alvarez, Latin-American Advisor
Felipe Alviar-Baquero, Latin-American Advisor
Felipe graduated from Kent University in 2004 with First Class Honours in Law and Business Administration (Hons) and in 2006 he graduated with a Distinction from the BCL from Lincoln College, Oxford University. Felipe was the president of the Latin American Societies at both Kent and Oxford University. His work experience includes working for the Department of Work and Pensions, a secondment in the Prince's Trust , working closely with Latin American Organisations and experience with start-ups in Colombia and the UK. Felipe currently works as a lawyer in London.
Felipe has a particular focus on companies and enterns in Chile & Colombia.
Rajeeb Dey FRSA, CEO & Founder
Rajeeb was the longest serving President of Oxford Entrepreneurs and graduated in June 2008 with First Class Honours in Economics & Management from Jesus College, Oxford University. Raj is heavily involved in encouraging entrepreneurship in the UK with a background in social enterprise and education, having founded the English Secondary Students Association (ESSA) at the age of 17. He is a Trustee of UnLtd - the Foundation for Social Entrepreneurs, a Trustee of the Phoenix Education Trust, a Next Generation Network Advisory Board member for the UK-India Business Council and Commissioner on the Carnegie UK Trust’s Inquiry into the Future of Civil Society.
He has received numerous accolades for his work, including the Goldman Sachs Global Leaders Award, YouthActionNet Global Fellowship, Waldzell Institute’s Architect of the Future Award, Bank of England Windsor Fellowship and Fellowship of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA). He was awarded the 02 X Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2009 and has been named "One to Watch" for 2010 by the Courvoisier The Future 500 Network - a network of rising UK stars.
Alex Hobbs, Canada Advisor
Alex's interest in Enternships followed a 6 month exchange to the University of North Texas when he bucked the trend of traditional placement years and spent 15 months developing small ventures in England and France. Upon returning to the University of Surrey he completed the final year of a BSc (Hons) in Business Management while working as a University Ambassador and running his own social enterprise that gained him an award from UnLtd, funded by The Millennium Awards Trust.
Starting his first venture at the age of six, Alex has since worked on a variety of social & for-profit enterprises on all five continent, and even presented to Royalty on the subject of entrepreneurship. During his time as National Programme Director at SIFE UK, Alex was responsible for the training and mentoring of thousands of University students to complete over 100 ventures around the globe.
Alex has since moved to Vancouver, Canada to gain experience of post-Olympic entrepreneurship in anticipation for London 2012 and is looking forward to helping Enternships succeed, both in Canada and beyond.
Leah Magoye, Africa Advisor
Leah grew up in Kenya and also lived in Namibia, moving to the UK for secondary school. She graduated from Edinburgh in June 2008 having completed an MA (Hons) in Classics and won the Hardie Prize for her undergraduate dissertation. She was awarded the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Windsor Fellowship and as Vice-President of the Edinburgh United Nations Youth and Student Association encouraged the participation of young people in global politics. She has also interned at HM Treasury and having initially started her career at Goldman Sachs Leah joined Enternships to look after Business Development and Marketing in the UK.
Leah is also the primary contact for enterns and companies based in Africa.
Kirill Makharinsky, USA Advisor
Kirill was also a President of Oxford Entrepreneurs and graduated from St. Johns College, Oxford University with a double first in Applied Mathematics.
Kirill is also the co-founder of YouNoodle.com, the startup innovation company which has recently launched with funding from Peter Thiel, The Founders Fund, Max Levchin and several other investors. Prior to YouNoodle, Kirill managed analytics and metrics at Slide. Previously he had been awarded the “Graduate of the Year Award” based on his work while at Oxford University.
Julian Sametinger, Western Europe Advisor
Julian is studying International Economics and Business Science at the University of Innsbruck, Austria. He has recently founded One Drop, Two Drops, a non-profit organisation that works on providing clean water to people in various areas of Africa. His focus is on growing Enternships in Europe, especially in Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
Sumita Sarkar, India Advisor
Sumita has recently completed her MBA from Cardiff School of Management (University of Wales) and looks after our great companies and enterns from India.
Rachmat Setyono, Indonesia & Japan Advisor
Rachmat currently is a linkage graduate student at Graduate School of International Management - International University of Japan (Master of e-Business candidate) and Gadjah Mada University - Indonesia (Master of Science in Management candidate). He wants to encourage young people in Indonesia and international students in Japan to have real-world experiences. He is helping to develop relationships with companies and enterns in Indonesia and Japan.
Halle Tecco, USA Advisor
Halle is a Product Manager for Enternships. She is working on her MBA at Harvard Business School and is helping to develop our relationships with companies and enterns in the USA.
